How do I determine level of wear?
Level of Wear:
Never Worn - Your shoes were purchased new but never worn. No visible imperfections or signs of use. If you have the original tags or box, note that in the description and/or photos.
Like New — Your shoes were worn only a few times. They are in excellent condition with barely any sign of wear. You might see minor wear on the soles without any scuffs on the uppers.
Great — Your shoes are in great shape with only minor signs of wear. Worn a handful of times, but you’ve taken good care of them. You might see some wear on the soles and subtle scuffs on the uppers.
Good — Your shoes are well-loved with subtle signs of wear and modest creasing but many miles to go. We do not accept shoes that have lost their shape or tread or have any odor, holes, or other major flaws
Please note: We welcome you to sell all men’s, women’s, and kids’ Steve Madden shoes (including sneakers!) that are still in wearable, clean condition (see our FAQ section for details). For any shoes below “Good” condition, we recommend you find an alternative end-of-life solution. Our New York City customers can participate in our in-store “SHOECYCLE” take-back program. Selling is not limited to shoes, you are welcome to list handbags, clothing and accessories as well!

SM REBOOTED is the dedicated marketplace for buying and selling Steve Madden products you love over and over again. We’ve created this community experience for finding and purchasing our pre-loved items.
What can I find in Steve Madden’s SM REBOOTED Collection?
You will find real Steve Madden customers selling their pre-loved shoes. These Pre-loved Steve Madden pieces will ship directly to you from another Steve Madden customer upon purchase.
How do I pay for a SM REBOOTED item?
You will pay via our secure checkout in the same way as with any Steve Madden order. Simply "Add to Cart" and proceed through the checkout as usual. At this time, you will not be able to checkout with both new and SM REBOOTED items.
How long does shipping take?
We ask our sellers to fulfill your order within 3 business days. The item will ship with a tracking number, and typically arrives within 3-5 days of being shipped.
Can I return my SM REBOOTED purchase?
All pre-loved purchases are final unless the item is not in the condition described by the seller. If that situation occurs, you can open a dispute once the item has been delivered to you. If we confirm the dispute, we will issue a refund and ask that you please return the item. If you have any questions or concerns, we are always available to help at rebooted@stevemadden.com.
What should I do when I receive my order?
Once your order has been delivered you will receive an email to confirm and rate the product. Let us know if your item is up to the standards you expected! If yes, feel free to give your seller a great rating. If not, let us know within three days through the form. One of our customer service representatives is here to take care of you!
Can I buy an item if I don't live in the United States?
Not yet! The SM REBOOTED service, powered by Recurate, is not currently available to buyers anywhere outside of the US. We are unable to fulfill international shipping orders at this time

Why should I sell my items on SM REBOOTED?
SM REBOOTED is the official marketplace for buying and selling your pre-loved products from Steve Madden. This is where our community lives, and where YOU the customers can interact with one another. Our goal is to give you the best value for your shoes, sell them fast, and find your shoes a new home to be loved again and again. Not to mention, it's simple - list items straight from your order history or search our product catalogue for items that you were given or purchased elsewhere.
How should I prepare my shoes for resale?
Please refer to Care & Cleaning for tips on how to keep your shoes looking good and lasting for as long as possible. Before listing, try to clean them up as much as you can, removing scuffs from the uppers and residue from the soles. We do not accept shoes that have lost their shape or tread or have any odor, holes, or other major flaws.
How do I determine what condition my shoes are in?
Once you choose the shoes you want to sell from your order history or our product catalogue, you will be asked to select their Level of Wear. This will be visible on your listing, so the next owner understands the condition the shoes are in before purchasing. Here’s what to look for:

How do I sell my Pre-loved item?
Log into your Steve Madden account (create an account if you don’t have one) and click "Sell SM REBOOTED". Pick the item you want to sell from your purchase history and follow the prompts.
Remember to provide complete and accurate information about the item’s condition, since you will only get site credit once the buyer confirms its condition.
Steve Madden reviews all SM REBOOTED submissions and has the right to approve or deny listings.
Once approved, we encourage you to share your listing!
What Steve Madden products can I sell?
We welcome you to sell all men’s, women’s, and kids’ Steve Madden shoes (including sneakers!) that are still in good, wearable, clean condition. If available, please include the original laces, accessories, and packaging. See our Level of Wear rating system in the following question to see if your shoes meet our resale standards. You are also welcome to sell other Steve Madden products besides shoes, including handbags, clothing and accessories. Listings will be checked for authenticity and quality before being posted live.
Note: Some items from our current and core collections may not be approved to be sold at this time. Feel free to reach out to Steve Madden rebooted@stevemadden.com with any questions about your listing.
Can I resell sneakers?
Of course! Our same selling standards apply to all footwear. Since sneakers tend to see more wear and tear than our other footwear categories (and that’s totally okay), we just ask that you do your best to identify their condition and make sure it’s clear in the description and/or photos. As with our other footwear, we do not accept sneakers that have lost their shape or tread or have any odor, holes, or other major flaws. It can be helpful to scope out already-posted sneakers to get a better feel for our standards.
What price can I sell at?
You are welcome to name your price, but we will recommend a price based on the item’s condition. We will then add a fixed amount to the listing price to cover shipping charges. These prices are subject to modification during the approval process by Steve Madden.
What’s the best way to photograph shoes for resale?
We recommend taking a photo of both shoes together at different angles in good lighting. Please also include photos of the bottom of the shoes to show wear, the size tag and any additional accessories that will be included.
Should I note any wear or scuffs?
Yes! It’s best to be honest. Imagine you are the buyer. What would you want to know before purchasing these shoes? If there is any wear or damage, make sure you note that in the description and ideally with a photo too. If any original laces or accessories are missing, please also make a note.
Do I need the original shoebox to sell?
While it’s great to have the original shoebox, it’s not essential. We recommend packing and shipping your shoes to the next owner in a sturdy, presentable box that will protect the shoes in transit. Wrapping your shoes in tissue paper adds another lightweight layer of protection. Before you ship, please double-check that you’re sending two matching shoes!
How is my product approved?
Our dedicated quality team reviews every item before it goes live. We want to make sure your buyer is happy and your item sells! We review:
- Your pictures - so they are accurate and high quality
- Blemishes or quirks - to make sure they are accurately described
- The condition you selected accurately reflects your images
- The product is an authentic piece
When will I be paid?
You, as the seller, will only be paid for your item after it has been delivered and confirmed by the buyer. When USPS notifies our system the item has been delivered, the buyer has 3 days to confirm and rate the item. Once this happens, we will release your payment through Steve Madden site credit.
How will I be paid?
You get 100% site credit! (i.e. Selling an item for $100 gives you $100 credit back to use on SteveMadden.com)
We issue site credit as a gift card to be redeemed on SteveMadden.com. You’ll receive the code via email upon selecting the credit option. When shopping with Steve Madden again, select payment through a gift card and enter the code in the box. Feel free to peruse new items and the SM REBOOTED collection with your full balance. NOTE: gift cards can be applied to multiple transactions.
Can I sell an item if I don't live in the United States?

How is shipping handled?
Once your item has sold, you will receive a pre-paid, pre-addressed shipping label via email and must send the item within 3 business days. If you have not shipped your item within 10 days, your transaction will be canceled. You do not have to pay extra for shipping.
Pack your items along with their respective labels and a thank you note. Drop it in the mailbox or at the nearest US Post Office. Also, you can schedule a free USPS package pickup.
Please carefully & neatly pack your item, and drop it off with the shipping label at the nearest post office. You can also hand it to your mail person.
What packaging should I use?
Your packaging should fit the size and shape of your shoes while keeping it protected. We encourage you to reuse packaging from previous purchases or recycled materials. Note: you can use a USPS box, available for free at any post office.
What should I do if my shoes aren’t in good enough shape to sell?
Our goal is to make durable shoes that last, but every pair eventually has an end of life. For any shoes below “Good” condition, we recommend you find an alternative end-of-life solution.
